Yvonne is a collection of particles of an element we just don't have on the Periodic Table of Elements. Whatever it is, it can change between solid, liquid, and gas at will and its properties can be altered to resemble most other elements. This gives Yvonne incredible shape-changing abilities. As a powerful sentient mass of matter, "she" (it would be more proper) is very curious. She torments and kills living things from all over space and time as parts of her own morbid experiments.
Yvonne doesn't have the full spectrum of human emotion, especially lacking love and sympathy, and therefore doesn't understand the pain she is causing. This is probably why she continually causes suffering. When she first discovers humans, she meets her most peculiar and challenging specimen yet.

Yvonne follows Hawk into a dimension he travels to, then assumes a human form based on the humans she sees on the covers of some nearby magazines. She immediately learns English by tuning in to hundreds of radio and television stations simultaneously (she's quite clever). No sooner is she accustomed to her new body than she decides to kill the first human she sees.
