The Invader model is an add-on you can use if you want to look and sound like an alien in Quake 2. This is especially fun if you're deathmatching on a network or on the internet as long as other users have downloaded the model. I've uploaded it to several model distributors, and the Invader is already catching on. It has been seen on Gamespot and other servers. Have your friends download this model and they'll be able to see you as an alien.

How to use it:
Just download the zip and unzip it into a directory called "Invader" in your Quake2\baseq2\players directory... so the files would be in Quake2\baseq2\players\Invader. Now to play as the alien, start up Quake 2 and go to the multiplayer menu. Choose the bottom option "Player setup". Go to model, and scroll right until you get to Invader. Go down to skin and do the same until you find the skin you like. Viola! Exit the menus and you're now an alien.

Want to play against a bunch of these aliens ... without resorting to slow internet play? Download the Eraser Bot. Just go to the Impact Development Team Homepage and download it. Once you've installed it, put this text in the "bots.cfg" file, somewhere between the [bots] text and the [teams] text:

This allows you nine different aliens to fight against. Stealth is my own personal alien. Be careful, because he's mean! To begin deathmatching, enter quake by typing "quake2 +set game eraser +map base1" while in the Quake 2 directory. (Note: replace "base1" with any other level name to try a new level) When you're in the game, type "bot_name herman" and "bot_name mona" and the same for Philbert, Stealth, Melvin, and any others... up until you have as many aliens as you want. Now, you're ready for some really alien antics. Go, have fun!

Your Own Skin
If you know much about modifying Quake 2, you may know that you can change the skin of your character, or the picture that wraps around the model to give it its colors. Here's something I'd like you to try: Create a new skin for my Invader model, then send it to me through e-mail. I'm posting people's alien skins right here on this website. If it's really good then I'll include it in one of the upcoming skin packs which everyone can download.
